Tracer V Gaming I17G 350 Review

 

I had an HP laptop about 15 years ago. At that time, it cost about $3,000. I used it for work as I traveled to different clients’ locations, and I used it to play games such as EverQuest 2 and Unreal Tournament. I could do pretty much anything that I needed or wanted to do with that laptop.

                After several years, eventually replaced my HP laptop with a Surface Pro X. I figured that since the newer hardware was way more powerful than my old, aged hardware, that it no longer needed to be state of the art, top of the line, in order to do all that I needed and wanted it to do. I was mistaken.

                Besides working and gaming, I now, also, need to be able to stream from my laptop. My Surface Pro X and my office desktop can stream up to 720p. I have one desktop that can stream at 1080p. I really needed my laptop to be able to match that. I also needed a full 17-inch monitor like I used to have with my old HP laptop, instead of the 13-inch monitor on the Surface Pro X.

                I figured I would look for a new state of the art, top of the line laptop that could fulfill all of my requirements, however I quickly realized that I was no long in a position to pay another $3,000 for a laptop, again. So, no OLED, USB Charging, or full UHD screen for me. Those features were too expensive. However, I was able to find a 17 inch, 1440p screen laptop that could even stream at 1440p, thus even outperforming my best desktop PC. All this for well under $2,000.

                This Tracer V Gaming I17G 350 laptop has been able to do everything that I need and want it to do. It reminds me of back when I had my old HP laptop. It performs so well that I can us it as a complete replacement for my desktop. However, it might no be able to completely replace my Surface Pro X. The ability to charge via USB, the portability to be able to travel and use it on the go. These are things that I miss. Oh yes, and that screen on the Surface is so much more vibrant, even though it’s so much smaller.

                Someday, when I need to replace this laptop, hopefully, I will be able to find one with a 17-inch, OLED, full UHD touchscreen, with a 2 in 1 laptop tablet formfactor that can charge via USB, yet still has all of the power that I need for working and gaming. All this for under $2,000? I doubt that day will ever come. Perhaps I might be able to afford paying $3,000 by that time, if that time ever comes into existence.

On Windows 11, sometimes, when you browse an interesting website, you will receive a prompt to allow notifications on the desktop when new articles are published.

If you click the “Allow” button, and you are now getting tons of notifications, or you gave the site permission by mistake, it’s possible to stop that and other websites from pushing updates to the Windows 11 or Windows 10 desktop, whether you use Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.

This guide will teach you the easy steps to prevent a specific website from showing notifications on Windows 11 from the three major web browsers.

·         Block site notifications on Edge

·         Block site notifications on Chrome

·         Block site notifications on Firefox

Block site notifications on Edge

To block site notifications on Windows 11 from Edge, use these steps:

1.      Open Microsoft Edge.

2.      Click the Settings and more (three-dotted) button in the top-right and select the Settings option.

3.      Click on Cookies and site permissions.

4.      Under the “All permissions” section, click the Notifications setting.



5.      Under the “Allow” section, select the site to disable notifications and click the menu button on the right.

6.      Select the Block option to stop notifications.



7.      (Optional) Select the Remove option to stop notifications, but you will receive a prompt while visiting the site to enable the feature.

Once you complete the steps, the website will no longer push notifications to the desktop in Notification Center.

If you want to disable all notifications, you have to block or remove all the sites, and then turn off the Ask before sending the toggle switch in the Notifications settings (edge://settings/content/notifications). 

Block site notifications on Chrome

To stop a specific website from sending toast notifications on Chrome, use these steps:

1.      Open Google Chrome.

2.      Click the Customize and Control (three-dotted) button in the top-right and select the Settings option.

3.      Click on Security and Privacy.

4.      Under the “Security and Privacy” section, click on Site Settings.

5.      Under the “Permissions” section, click the Notifications setting.



6.      Under the “Allow” section, select the site to disable notifications and click the menu button on the right.

7.      Select the Block option to stop notifications.



8.      (Optional) Select the Remove option to stop notifications, but you will receive a prompt while visiting the site to enable the feature.

9.      (Optional) Select the Don’t allow sites to send notifications option to disable the feature.

After you complete the steps, the site won’t be allowed to push notifications for future updates.

Block site notifications on Firefox

To prevent a website from sending notifications on Firefox, use these steps:

1.      Open Mozilla Firefox.

2.      Click the Open Application Menu (three-dotted) button in the top-right and select the Settings option.

3.      Click on Privacy & Security.

4.      Under the “Permissions” section, click the Settings button for the “Notifications” setting.



5.      Select the website to stop notifications on Firefox.

6.      Select the Block option to stop notifications.



7.      (Optional) Select the Remove Website button to stop notifications, but you will receive a prompt while visiting the site to enable the feature.

8.      (Optional) Check the Block new requests asking to allow notifications option.

9.      Click the Save Changes button.

Once you complete the steps, Firefox will no longer let the website show notifications on the Windows 11 desktop.

 

Performance Points and Bot Matches for Pokemon Unite


They should change the requirements for earning Performance Points. Performance Points should be given for activities such as damage done to objectives, earning more for Drednaw than for Rotom. Since Zapdos should not always be taken, it should earn you more Performance Points for taking it while your team is losing and less if you take it while your team is winning. Basically, they should use the Performance Points as an incentive to play more correctly. Earn more Performance Points for not stealing your team's Jungle in the early game and lose points if you do steal it early. You could also earn more points from assisting in team fights rather than scoring. Scoring while with teammates should earn more than scoring while alone.

 

As for Bot matches. Think about it. You have to lose about 4 matches in a row in order to end up in a bot match. There is no way that one win is going to actually make up for the losses that caused it. Bot matches are really only bad if the player is already too high a rank than they are supposed to be, because they will fall more slowly. However, bot matches do not raise you up in rank because you need to lose more in order to get into a bot match in the first place. If people were actually matched with similarly skill players, then bot matches would only happen when players are having an unusually bad time. It can be a way to allow them to step away from the game after a win instead of trying for "one more time" over and over again when they should really be taking a break.

 

Lastly, many are talking about how easy it is for people to rank up. However, I am finding it very difficult to rank up in Masters. It seems that more often, my team is not following standard procedures while the enemy team is. I don't understand why this seems to be the case. Why am I usually on the team that doesn't get to objectives while the enemy team usually does? Do I just have bad luck? If I compare the number of teammates vs the number of enemies at every Drednaw it would certainly not be anywhere close to 50%/50%; it's more like 25%/75%.

 

I, apparently, must adapt my strategy to accommodate when the team does not go to objectives together. There’s no point in going if it will be 2 vs 5 at an objective, so it would be better to farm instead. This actually helps to become strong enough to potentially take Zapdos during the endgame. Basically, the lesson here is that if things don’t go according to plan, then the plan must change into something else that can still work for the new situation.


What Super Smash Bros Can Learn From AKI’s Wrestling Games

 I remember playing Karate Champ in the arcades and on the NES. It was fun, but it was too inconsistent. Too often, I would punch or kick my opponent only to be surprised that the hit was not registered by the game. Without reliably being able to convey my commands, there was no satisfaction for playing successfully. It seemed to be all up to chance whether or not my attacks would connect as opposed to relying on my actual skill at the game.

Moving forward to when I played Street Fighter II in the arcades and on the SNES, I finally felt the satisfaction of my input accurately being represented on the screen. In the beginning, I did not even know what a Dragon Punch was; instead I learned to rely on crouching fierce punches and sweeps. I remember hearing cheers from behind me as I won a match by accidentally performing a Dragon Punch when I intended to do a simple uppercut. From that point on, I transitioned from accepting simple, reliable moves to committing to learn the complexities of the game.

I went from casually playing fighting games, through being engaged in the combat, to obsessing over being able to pull of any move whenever I needed to perform it. I was young, and I had the time to train. Looking back, however, I wonder if my time Dragon Punching from one side of the screen to the other, over and over again, could have been better spent just playing through the game. When I played Street Fighter with my friends, we were always very competitive. It got to a point where it wasn’t really as fun as it was exhausting. I was happy when we started playing AKI’s wrestling games as they were just as competitive but allowed me to have more fun. How, by not forcing me to train my muscle memory in order to pull of the moves.

The control scheme for No Mercy allows you to use one universal list of inputs for all of the characters in the game. The moves are simple to perform, and they are accurately executed. At the same time, the same input will perform different moves for different characters. This allows for a wide variety of characters with a wide variety of moves without the need for complicated controls. Because of the implementation of timing for counters and the rock-paper-scissors depth to the striking-grappling-defending mechanics, the fighting can be very strategic. The result is a varied and complex, strategic fighter that can be played with a focus on what to do instead of how to do it.

The same concepts of controls, variety, and even the strategic elements can be found in Super Smash Bros. This allows for competitive play that is still very fun and intuitive without having to be stressful or tedious. If you think back to how you felt when you used to play No Mercy, or any of AKI’s wrestling games, and then think of how you feel when you play Smash Bros, perhaps you might notice some similarities. When comparing the two fighters, you may also notice a glaring disparity that has yet to be included in previous Smash Bros releases. That missing feature is character creation and customization.

There are likely other features that Smash Bros can and should look to No Mercy for such as combination moves for characters that have teamed up or having different “win” goals besides just using the number of ko’s or coins via the use of specialized match types. Also, both lack a co-op story mode. All of these pale in comparison to Smash Bros lack of character and move customization. Based on what was done in AKI’s games, it seems like a good practice to lock the move sets of the official roster. The magic is in having all of the different moves of all of the different characters at your disposal when creating your own characters. As we have seen with the weapon collection, combination, and items system in Kid Icarus, there is hope for a robust customization system in Smash Bros as well.

The move sets must be robust, but I’m not sure as to what kind of options we can expect in terms of character creation. Mii’s would be my first guess as to the type of characters that we may create in Smash Bros, but it might be a good idea to, say, copy over the Donkey Kong official character from his slot on the roster and paste him into a customizable slot, just like in AKI’s games. Then we could modify the move set using ones from other characters. This would allow us to not only make Mii’s with customized moves but also have personalized versions of each of the main characters too.

The addition of customization features in Smash Bros seems to be very likely thanks to Kid Icarus: Uprising. I would also like to see how Smash Bros can handle 3D depth of movement in the environments instead of always being 2D gameplay. No Mercy was not tethered to a 2D plane, so this might work. Again, Kid Icarus shows us that 3rd person gameplay through 3D environments is feasible. We’ll see just how far and how wide Sakurai wants to change the series. I’m confident that steps will be made in the right directions. It’s the giant leaps that I’m concerned about.
